The challenge is not only the price of the data. It is the whole path from data to decision.
Timely satellite evidence depends on far more than imagery: sensor data, computing capacity, skilled analysts, verification, safeguards, trusted institutional relationships, financing, and the willingness to act. Today, organisations meet these obstacles one at a time and negotiate separately for the same resources. The Alliance convenes and strengthens existing actors, reduces transaction costs, and puts arrangements in place before they are needed — so legitimate users do not have to build them from scratch when a need becomes urgent.

Where the Alliance works
Satellites for Peace is anchored in a peace–conflict continuum rather than a general crisis-response model — strengthening responsible satellite use before violence, during armed conflict, through recovery, and as a way to monitor positive peace.

Access · three pathways
Standing, trusted access to satellite data
To establish standing, trusted access for peace-supporting use, the Alliance pursues three pathways in rising order of ambition. Each builds on the last, and work on all three proceeds in parallel.

Improve what exists
Navigate and strengthen the programs, open-data services and commercial channels legitimate users already rely on — better data-sharing agreements, pooled purchasing, common eligibility criteria and referral.

A trusted platform
A secure portal for vetted users through which pooled purchasing, tasking, archive access, analysis and compute are routed under one set of safeguards — a single door in place of a separate negotiation for every need.
03
A confederated observation capacity
States and other contributors own and operate their own instruments and share data for peace-supporting use under a common allocation and safeguarding framework, delivered through the platform.
